Things I'm Loving Thursday | May 28th, 2015

Is today really May 28th?! Seriously, this month has been a blur and I am ready for a little vacay. Today I made a quick trip over the mountain to Portland to do a set of mirrors for an upcoming wedding and also to deliver a box full of goodies to a styled shoot at a new wedding venue outside of Portland. Check out the blog Monday to see photos of those pretty items!

I feel like I need to do double items since I missed last Thursday buuuuuttttttt I am just going to do my usual five for the week because if we are honest, I am running on fumes at the moment. Hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous weather!!

Does anyone have any exciting plans for this weekend?!

Oregon Strawberries
If you are from Oregon and are anything like me you get excited for Oregon berry season. The first round of berries are starting to make their appearance, strawberries. Oregon strawberries are superior to all other strawberries, and that is not me just being a proud Oregonian. They are small, juicy and deep red all the way through. No white tops or insides for these berries. If you are in Oregon, now is the time to stock up. I feel bad making these berries into jam because they are so good by themselves. I am currently thinking of all the ways I can eat them...strawberry pie, strawberry shortcake, strawberry milkshakes...mmmmmmm...

Black Oak Artisans Paper
I recently purchased some of this paper for some calligraphy projects I have been working on and fell in love with it. It is thick, absorbent and so easy to work with and can we also talk about the beautiful deckled edges it has??? Black Oak Artisans was great to work with, delivered quickly and had beautiful packaging. I will be placing an order again with them shortly, I can't say enough great things about them.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale
The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is currently going on, yayayayay! Some items are up to 40% off, which is a steal. I have my eye on this Kendra Scott cuff and am thinking I am going to treat myself and order it. I also love that Nordstrom has free shipping and returns, there is nothing that enjoy less than getting ripped off with shipping! Well there are actually a lot of other things but seriously, overpriced shipping is silly.

Epsom Salt Baths
If you follow along on my Instagram (if not, find me @ktmichelledesigns), you may have noticed that I have a thing for baths. I especially love taking Epsom salt baths and casually refer to them as detox baths. Epsom salts are good for so many uses; sore muscles, stress, gardening...whenever I get sick I always take a super hot epsom salt bath and wake up feeling much better the next day! I mix in at least a cup of epsom salts in my bath water and add bubbles for fun. You can use plain but there are also some really great scented ones. If you use essential oils, add a couple drops of your favorite into your bathwater with the salts. Trust me, this will kick up you bath experience a couple notches.

Celestial Coaster Set
I have been looking for a set of agate coasters for some time now, I should rephrase...a set of reasonably priced agate coasters. When I was in Anthropologie the other day I stumbled upon these beauties. I love that they come in a variety of colors. If you buy them in the store you can mix and match but if you order them online they come in a one color set. I am obviously loving the blush set, big surprise. These would look great on a coffee table or a bar cart!

Things I'm Loving Thursday | May 14, 2015

Happy Thursday friends, tomorrow is Friyay!!! Today's low point included having to go to the dermatologist for my yearly skin cancer screening (read more below). Today's high point included FREE Cake day at The Cake Lady. Also, I am having mixed emotions about tonight being the season finale of Scandal. Will you be tuning in??? Here are some more high points from this past week, enjoy! And always, feel free to comment below with some of yours!

Verde Studios
I am currently designing for two upcoming styled wedding shoots, both of which will obviously include an invitation suite. While I could use the generic American flag forever stamp, they are just not very pretty on invitations. Don't get me wrong, I love America, but for a wedding, there has to be a prettier option. Verde Studios is an Etsy shop that sells vintage stamps. Most of the stamps come in collection  or theme, I chose the orchard and botanical, but she has so many other beautiful options. They came super quickly in the mail and in adorable packaging, she even included a thank you set of Oregon themed stamps for me. If you are into sending snail mail or have a special event coming up consider using some vintage stamps on your envelopes for an extra pizazz. Trust me, the recipient will notice.

Savory Oregon Trail Juniper Berry Seasoning
If you have never been into a Savory Spice Shop, look at their locations online, find the nearest one and go there ASAP. As soon as you walk into the store you are immediately taken back by all the delicious aromas in the store. My favorite time to go in is during the holidays because they always have hot apple cider brewing with their mulling spices. The thing I love most about Savory is that their spices ARE NOT overpriced, at all. Generally they are cheaper than what you would buy them for in the grocery store and are also WAY better quality and fresher. I love so many of their spices but I have been loving their Oregon Trail Juniper Berry Seasoning spice in particular lately. Don't be scared off by the juniper berry, it has the faintest taste. It is great on beef, chicken and especially good on wild game meat. Do not think just cooking spices though, they have a whole slew of baking items...hello super affordable Madagascar vanilla beans!

Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Mask
Before I started preaching about how much I loved this product, I wanted to give it a solid couple tries before I started rejoicing my praises for it. After using it once a week (Sunday night baths) for three weeks I can honestly say that I love this product. While I do not know if it was worth its price tag, it definitely is a great mask, especially if you have dry skin. Winter and even spring in Central Oregon can leave your skin feeling especially dry due to the cold, dry, high desert air. This product leaves your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. I am a HUGE fan of their Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment, which I have sucked it up and bought the full size bottle of. If you have dry or rough skin, order the small option of this product and give it a whirl.

Revenge Series Finale
Travis and I are a big fan of binge watching television series on Netflix, which I think a lot of people can agree with. We started watching Revenge one visit to Montana, when it was too cold and stormy to go outside and do very much. We were instantly hooked. If you have not watched this show, you should start, like now, well after you finish reading this post. Anyhoo...this Sunday, the series came to a finale. I am sad that it will no longer be on the air but at least it didn't have a terrible ending like some other series. I will not say how it ended in case it is still sitting in your DVD list or you are wanting to start the series but I am very glad how it ended!

Skin Cancer Awareness Month
May is National Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Let this serve as a public service announcement to schedule an appointment with you local dermatologist to go and get your skin checked. These appointments are generally free if you have medical insurance since they are considered a preventative measure, so no excuses. This is not only important for people with fair skin, it is important for EVERYONE. I was lucky to inherit my dads darker complexion and rarely burn, however my skin is prone to getting freckles/moles. Each time I go in for my early visit, they choose to take something off of me. Fortunately, the labs results have proven to be fine each time but I still dread waiting to hear the results, especially due to the stupidity of my younger tanning days. It is also important to make sure you are wearing sunscreen everyday. Especially if you are someone who works outside, make sure you are putting it on your ears and the back of your neck! In the past three decades, skin cancer has accounted for more cases than all other cancers combined.Yes, looking tan is nice, but being cancer free is better. Get a spray tan and put on some sunblock. And most importantly, if you are visiting a tanning bed, STOP. RIGHT. NOW.

Things I'm Loving Thursday | May 7th, 2015

Where did the lovely spring weather go we were having? I hope it comes back because I am not loving the wind storm that is sweeping through at the moment. Cheers to another Thursday and a happy Friday tomorrow!

Minnetonka Canvas Moccasin
I love Minnetonkas, always have and always will. I blame thank my mother for getting me hooked on them at a very small age. I can still remember some of my favorites I had when I was younger including a white pair with tiny jeweled studs on them, unfortunately they no longer make these, boo. If I did not insecurely worry about people thinking I never changed my shoes I would wear my cheetah pair every day, no joke. I was browsing their website the other day and discovered they have a new canvas moccasin! Immediately I wanted to order a pair but was faced with the dilemma of choosing a color because I love every single one. What color would you go with?

The Royal Baby
This can pretty much go without being said and needs little explanation. I can't wait to see the adorable pictures of her and brother Prince George growing up.

Julep Glow Highlighting Power
I recently received this product in my monthly Julep box and it is quickly becoming something I use everyday. It gives your skin a soft glow and doesn't look like you got in a fight with the body glitter fairy. Just swipe across your brow, temples, cheekbones, bridge of nose, and Cupid’s bow and your skin will be glowing like JLo's in no time.

I do not know if kombucha is just an Oregon thing or if it is popular elsewhere. If you have never heard of it or do not know what it is, it is fermented tea that is often times flavored. If you are looking for a good brand I love, Humm Kombucha. It is made in Bend and is one of the only kombucha breweries in the nation. Their lemon ginger and pomegranate lemonade are my two faves. The problem with buying kombucha though is that it is +$3.00 for each small bottle. If you have a daily Starbucks addiction than that probably does not seem like that big of a deal but frankly I do not want to pay that much for a daily habit when I can make my own at home for around $1.00/gallon. It is fairly easy to make, you just need to make sure everything is sanitized and your hands are clean. You will also you need a SCOBY. Do not ask me what is stands for because I cannot remember. After you see a picture of one you will probably not be so gungho about drinking it, so try it first and then look. Or never look, your choice.

Rising Tide Society
If you follow over on Instagram (if you don't, you totally should! @ktmichelledesigns) you might have seen a photo of some custom kraft bags I made to be stuffed with donuts for a Tuesdays Together meeting at the home of Laura Hernandez (check out her photography website). Tuesdays Together happen the first Tuesday of every month and are a chance for creatives (photographers, graphic designers, wedding planners, interior designers, makeup artist, painters, bloggers, ect.) to get together, discuss what is going on, connect and support each other in their endeavors. Their slogan is, "Community over competition," and I could not agree more. Tuesdays Together are part of the Rising Tide Society. I love this idea and would love for their to be one in Oregon, especially Central Oregon. I have submitted a request to start/lead a group here. I will let you know what I hear back so if you would like you can join in too!

And always, comment below with some of the things you are loving this week!
