Vineyard Styled Shoot With Laura Hernandez Photography

When I attended the Bloom Workshop in California, I met the sweetest mother/daughter photography team who take photos in the Monterey/Bay area but are always willing to travel! Check out their website!

They were asked to do a styled shoot (not a real wedding, a dreamed up one) at a local winery. Laura was kind enough to ask if I would design and take care of the details for the shoot and I of course said, yes!

The theme was centered around Pantone's color of the year, Marsala. You will see shades and variations of it throughout the shoot and also lots of greenery with touches of gold (my favorite). I boxed off the items and shipped them down to California for the other vendors to play with and style.

I can't wait to see Laura's pictures and how everything turned out! In the mean time, you will have to enjoy a couple of the photos I took before sending everything off!

Easter Brunch Inspiration and Free Printable

Happy Palm Sunday! Easter is just a week away and I am sure you are all busy making/finalizing Easter Sunday plans. Growing up we usually had Easter brunch after going to mass instead of a "dinner." Sometimes we would go out to a special restaurant or sometimes it would be at home. I remember one Easter when we got home from church and I was so excited to finish looking in my Easter basket. Once we got inside the house, I ran over to my Easter basket (which I had laid in the sun), only to discover that my entire chocolate Easter bunny had melted and all that remained were two, tiny, hard candy eyes. My mom tried to get me another one from the store but it just wasn't the same. Life is traumatic when you are six.

That story was the inspiration behind my Easter Brunch this year. Instead of doing place cards  I used tiny chocolate Easter bunnies and wrote each person's initials on them with food gel. Make sure to keep them in the fridge if they are going to sit out more than a couple hours, so you and your guests do not experience the same trauma I did. Since white is the color of Easter I used off-white dinnerware and white, tatted doilies as place mats. Tulips scream Spring and Easter so I placed several stems of them in small, mismatched, glass vases. Easy, quick and simple. Scroll to the bottom for your free Easter Menu printable!

St.Patrick's Day Dinner and Free Printables

My hope is to feature a different meal or event each month on the blog, to help give inspiration for your own event at home! This month I am featuring a St.Patrick’s Day themed dinner. Although I do not have any Irish descent, in either family blood line, I am Catholic and do love a delicious meal of corned beef and cabbage, so I feel like that qualifies, right?!?

I designed the tablescape using a color palette of white and gold, with pops of kelly green. The florals are kept simple by using white and green hydrangeas in a gold vase that resembles a gold pot (see what I did there?). If you can’t find hydrangeas, white tulips or daffodils would also look great and they are currently in season. Watercolor menus are placed on top of gold chargers and white plates to create a simple, yet striking place setting. This tablescape can easily be recreated with items you have around your home or maybe this has inspired you to create something completely different!

Want to be extra fancy? You can easily create name tags for your dinner guests. I simply took white cardstock, washed with green watercolor and wrote everyone’s names in gold ink.

Have fun planning your St.Patrick’s Day Dinner and show me what you created on Instagram or Facebook by tagging #katiemichelledesigns! Email me if you would like me to send you a St.Patrick's Day Menu Printable to use on your own! Happy St.Patrick’s Day!
