FREE Valentine's Printable and Greeting Card

Today I had to go to the grocery store which goes against my grocery shopping rule of never going on Friday, especially to Safeway and really especially before the Friday of any holiday but... Travis just had neck surgery and he needed a few things so being the loving wife I am, I went anyway.

Upon walking into the grocery store I was bombarded with the strong sent of thrown together flower arrangements, the shiny, giant mylar balloons caught my eye in the fog of red and husbands buying last minute Valentine's Day Cards rushed past me. I immediately regretted going into the store for this exact reason so I grabbed a basket and pretended I was on an old rerun of Supermarket Sweep to get my items as quickly as possibly and leave the store without losing my sanity.

I know what you are probably thinking, Katie is a real scrooge when it comes to Valentine's Day...well you are partially right... I am a scrooge when it comes to THIS kind of Valentine's Day. You know the commercial, cliche, in your face kind of Valentine's Day. The one where people feel some kind guilt into doing kind or loving things for each other and men in particular have a huge pressure put upon them by society to live up to unrealistic expectations. When Travis and I were dating I told him to not ever buy me flowers on Valentine's Day because that was "the thing to do," but I would love flowers "just because" any other time of the year and thankfully he has lived up to that request.

The kind of Valentine's Day I do love is one that isn't showy, or over the top but that is thoughtful and from the heart. Hand written cards, homemade dinner and a day spent with your special someone doing something that you BOTH love and enjoy, that is really what the day is about. I am also a firm believer in that Valentine's Day should not be celebrated just one day a year but it should be every day a year.

If you have not yet had time to go and pick out a special card, purchase a gift or maybe you are just looking for something pretty to send your girlfriends I have you covered! In the spirit of love and giving, I am giving you all a free downloadable KMD watercolor heart and also an 8 x10 print. Just print out on card stock, trim down and you are good to go!

Just simple click HERE for the card....

And then click HERE for your 8x10 print.

Please only use these for your personal use and do not sell or market them as your own.

I hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day and please, for my sake, continue to share the loving spirit all through out the year just not on Sunday :)

Bachelorette Premiere Party and Free Printable

Next Monday the Bachelorette will be premiering once again on ABC. Every season I say, " I am not going to watch," then about two weeks into the season someone says something that triggers my attention, I catch up watching online, and then I am once again sucked in. Nowadays, I generally record and zip through it on the DVR, skipping the redundant and super boring parts, so really I am probably only watching 40 minutes of trashy reality TV which makes me feel a little better about myself and less guilty that I am wasting time watching it.

In college whenever a new season of the Bachelor was on, a group of girls would gather at my house, and we would make dinner (tune in tomorrow for one of our favorite Monday night meals), have dessert and watch the show while working on homework and design projects. So for this month's event inspiration I decided to design a Bachelorette Premier Party. If you are lucky, maybe Chris Harrison will crash your party and you will be on TV!

The party is complete with a printable invitation, food and decor ideas! The jury is still out on whether I will be tuning in next Monday, for real this time, but if you throw a Bachelorette Party please share some photos with me!

Click here for your free printable. Print on card stock, cut in half, fold hamburger style and BAM! you have two invitations done. Please only use this printable for your own personal use and do not duplicate or sell.

Will you be tuning in next Monday? Are you Team Kaitlyn or Team Britt?

Feel free to use plain white envelopes like they do on the Bachelor.
I wanted a pop of color so I opted for red.

Don't forget to sign your name!

Prepare yourself for my own "cheesy" food labels.

No Bachelor event is complete without candles, lots of candles.
How has there not been a fire accident during the filming of this show??

I wish the Bachelor would use something besides red roses...
they could have been a little more creative.
This might be necessary to get through the real whining on the show.

If you do the math, this comes out to half a bottle of wine a person...
maybe a little overkill but maybe not.
Keeping the rose them going with my favorite rose.
You may recognize this from this Things I'm Loving Thursday post
Has anyone else noticed on dates that they never eat their dinner?
Maybe it is just the way they edit it but that always really confuses me.
You can guarantee there will be at least one of these this season.
And LOTS of these.
If you wish, feel free to have a "party night rose" looming over your event all night.

Add visual interest to your table by adding varying heights to objects.

My favorite.

So many yummy options.

Easter Brunch Inspiration and Free Printable

Happy Palm Sunday! Easter is just a week away and I am sure you are all busy making/finalizing Easter Sunday plans. Growing up we usually had Easter brunch after going to mass instead of a "dinner." Sometimes we would go out to a special restaurant or sometimes it would be at home. I remember one Easter when we got home from church and I was so excited to finish looking in my Easter basket. Once we got inside the house, I ran over to my Easter basket (which I had laid in the sun), only to discover that my entire chocolate Easter bunny had melted and all that remained were two, tiny, hard candy eyes. My mom tried to get me another one from the store but it just wasn't the same. Life is traumatic when you are six.

That story was the inspiration behind my Easter Brunch this year. Instead of doing place cards  I used tiny chocolate Easter bunnies and wrote each person's initials on them with food gel. Make sure to keep them in the fridge if they are going to sit out more than a couple hours, so you and your guests do not experience the same trauma I did. Since white is the color of Easter I used off-white dinnerware and white, tatted doilies as place mats. Tulips scream Spring and Easter so I placed several stems of them in small, mismatched, glass vases. Easy, quick and simple. Scroll to the bottom for your free Easter Menu printable!
