Things I'm Loving Thursday | May 14, 2015

Happy Thursday friends, tomorrow is Friyay!!! Today's low point included having to go to the dermatologist for my yearly skin cancer screening (read more below). Today's high point included FREE Cake day at The Cake Lady. Also, I am having mixed emotions about tonight being the season finale of Scandal. Will you be tuning in??? Here are some more high points from this past week, enjoy! And always, feel free to comment below with some of yours!

Verde Studios
I am currently designing for two upcoming styled wedding shoots, both of which will obviously include an invitation suite. While I could use the generic American flag forever stamp, they are just not very pretty on invitations. Don't get me wrong, I love America, but for a wedding, there has to be a prettier option. Verde Studios is an Etsy shop that sells vintage stamps. Most of the stamps come in collection  or theme, I chose the orchard and botanical, but she has so many other beautiful options. They came super quickly in the mail and in adorable packaging, she even included a thank you set of Oregon themed stamps for me. If you are into sending snail mail or have a special event coming up consider using some vintage stamps on your envelopes for an extra pizazz. Trust me, the recipient will notice.

Savory Oregon Trail Juniper Berry Seasoning
If you have never been into a Savory Spice Shop, look at their locations online, find the nearest one and go there ASAP. As soon as you walk into the store you are immediately taken back by all the delicious aromas in the store. My favorite time to go in is during the holidays because they always have hot apple cider brewing with their mulling spices. The thing I love most about Savory is that their spices ARE NOT overpriced, at all. Generally they are cheaper than what you would buy them for in the grocery store and are also WAY better quality and fresher. I love so many of their spices but I have been loving their Oregon Trail Juniper Berry Seasoning spice in particular lately. Don't be scared off by the juniper berry, it has the faintest taste. It is great on beef, chicken and especially good on wild game meat. Do not think just cooking spices though, they have a whole slew of baking items...hello super affordable Madagascar vanilla beans!

Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Mask
Before I started preaching about how much I loved this product, I wanted to give it a solid couple tries before I started rejoicing my praises for it. After using it once a week (Sunday night baths) for three weeks I can honestly say that I love this product. While I do not know if it was worth its price tag, it definitely is a great mask, especially if you have dry skin. Winter and even spring in Central Oregon can leave your skin feeling especially dry due to the cold, dry, high desert air. This product leaves your skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. I am a HUGE fan of their Glamglow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment, which I have sucked it up and bought the full size bottle of. If you have dry or rough skin, order the small option of this product and give it a whirl.

Revenge Series Finale
Travis and I are a big fan of binge watching television series on Netflix, which I think a lot of people can agree with. We started watching Revenge one visit to Montana, when it was too cold and stormy to go outside and do very much. We were instantly hooked. If you have not watched this show, you should start, like now, well after you finish reading this post. Anyhoo...this Sunday, the series came to a finale. I am sad that it will no longer be on the air but at least it didn't have a terrible ending like some other series. I will not say how it ended in case it is still sitting in your DVD list or you are wanting to start the series but I am very glad how it ended!

Skin Cancer Awareness Month
May is National Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Let this serve as a public service announcement to schedule an appointment with you local dermatologist to go and get your skin checked. These appointments are generally free if you have medical insurance since they are considered a preventative measure, so no excuses. This is not only important for people with fair skin, it is important for EVERYONE. I was lucky to inherit my dads darker complexion and rarely burn, however my skin is prone to getting freckles/moles. Each time I go in for my early visit, they choose to take something off of me. Fortunately, the labs results have proven to be fine each time but I still dread waiting to hear the results, especially due to the stupidity of my younger tanning days. It is also important to make sure you are wearing sunscreen everyday. Especially if you are someone who works outside, make sure you are putting it on your ears and the back of your neck! In the past three decades, skin cancer has accounted for more cases than all other cancers combined.Yes, looking tan is nice, but being cancer free is better. Get a spray tan and put on some sunblock. And most importantly, if you are visiting a tanning bed, STOP. RIGHT. NOW.
