Things I'm Loving Thursday | April 23, 2015

Today is Thursday which can only mean three things:

  1. Tomorrow is Friday, yayayayay!!!
  2. Scandal is on tonight.
  3. It's time for, "Things I'm Loving Thursday."

PS. I am pretty sure all of these were obvious but whatevs.

Rose ‘N’ Blum Bubbly Moscato Rosé
A couple weeks ago my dad and brother delivered a batch of malted barley to Napa Valley for a vineyard that is starting to make beer. *Sidenote- you should totally check out Mecca Grade Estate Malts website, I am partial to the History Section).* Since they were in the Napa Valley they obviously had to go wine tasting and my dad was sweet enough to bring back two bottles of wine for Travis and I. One of the bottles was a bubbly moscato rosé that I cannot get enough of. It is bubbly like champagne with just the right amount of sweetness. I could have drank the whole bottle...but then I would have woke up with a major hangover because I am not 21. Unfortunately I do not think you can buy it anywhere in Oregon but you CAN buy it online! Right now it is on major sale, you can get a whole case for $75!! I am highly contemplating this...If you have a wedding coming up this would be perfect for toasting AND it is pink!

Lilly Pulitzer for Target Collection
On Sunday my Instagram and Facebook were getting flooded with posts from ladies rushing down to their nearest Target to purchase something from the new Lilly Pulitzer line for Target. Since we live an hour away from Target and I was not feeling that hardcore, I did not hurry to the store, instead I just browsed online at all of the new, cute items. I figured by the time they got to Target the shelves would be restocked and I would also not have to battle women for bar cart accessories or a throw pillow. I am especially loving the house goods and am thinking I need a fun set of glasses for our bar cart this summer!

I Heart Gluten T-Shirt
I stumbled upon the Prairie Californian while reading an old blog post of hers that was featured on Huffington Post, "10 Farmwife Realities That it is Farming Season Again." I was laughing while reading this because they are all so true, not because they are necessarily funny. After reading her article I felt like we could totally be friends so I went over to her website and browsed for maybe a couple hours...but not in a creepy way. I noticed on her sidebar she had an "I Love Gluten" button (which I loved) and THEN noticed she has "I Heart Gluten" shirts. They come in male, female, kiddo and baby sizes. I am pretty sure I need one. Show support for farmers and wheat industry by getting yours here!

bareMinerals- Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss
I am a lipgloss wearer, not lipstick, however, I do not enjoy overly glittered and wet looking lips. They seem either a little too teenager or a little too street walker for me. I also do not like sticky glosses. Gosh...I really sound picky. Anyway, our awesome swag bag from the Bloom Workshop included five different shades for the Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss from bareMinerals. Their Buxom lipgloss are my go to so I was curious to try these and I was not disappointed. They are not overly pigmented or sticky and also hydrate your lips. My favorite part about them though is the application wand, the sponge is slanted so it is easier to apply and you do not get it everywhere.

Pink Macaron Kitchen Timer
While my mom and I were at the Bloom Workshop in Los Gatos, California, we walked through all of the super cute shops in their Old Towne. Although Sur La Table is a chain I still love that store. I have been looking for a new kitchen timer to replace my semi broken white one for quite awhile. I did not want to buy another plain one though, I wanted something fun. I stumbled upon this cute, pink, macaron timer and knew this was the one I had been looking for. It is also on sale right now, so if you are looking for one, you are in luck too!

Things I'm Loving Thursday | April 16th, 2015

I know I say this a lot but this week has really flown by but thank goodness since it involved; Tax Day, the release of irrigation water for Central Oregon farmers (which equals random meal times, even earlier mornings and sometimes cranky husbands) and a gardening club project at the Kids Club that quickly went south and left me covered in peanut butter. Although this week had some negatives, I still have some favorite things!

Bip and Bop Jewelry
At the Bloom Workshop all attendees got an AWESOME swag bag. One of my favorite things in the bag was a simple gold initial necklace made by Bip and Bop Jewelry. The owners/creators were also at Bloom and are so sweet and fun. They also have an agate necklace that I have been looking for for over a year, score! You have got to check out their Etsy site!

OMG Olive Oils
My mother-inlaw bought TDawg and I a Cabernet Roasted Garlic marinade from a local food and gift show. The other night I marinated chicken thighs for 24 hours and then roasted them in the oven. They were SO. GOOD. OMG Olive Oils make marinades, olive oils, vinegars and other yummy sauces. I would highly suggest browsing their website and trying out a couple. Also, how fun is their name?

American Odyssey
I love suspenseful television shows, especially if they involve the government; hence my slight obsession with Scandal. Easter weekend, a new television show in this genre started, American Odyssey. I decided to DVR it and give it a try. There has only been two episodes so far so there is still time to catch up! The jist of the story is about the discovery of an American company who has been funding Islamic terrorist groups and is also trying to cover up an attack on American soldiers who were killed by a contracted company funded by the same group. There is one soldier who didn't die in the attack, who holds the truth but no one knows if she is really dead or alive...dun,dun,dun....

Sauced BBQ and Whiskey Bar
While in California I had the opportunity to visit an old friend Daniel, who lives and farms in the central California Valley. We met halfway in Livermore and ate at a crazy good BBQ joint called Sauced. I love menus that keep it simple by having an entree and then you choose the sides. They had brisket ends so that was the obvious choice for me and I chose jalapeno cheese grits and cornbread (does someone like cornmeal?). I wish I could have finished all of it because it was so good. Everything that I saw people eating looked delicious. If you are in the area this is a must eat.

Fresh Tulips
This can probably go without being said but I am loving the abundance of fresh tulips right now. Since they are in season they are super cheap, I bought three bunches for $12 grocery shopping the other day and scattered them around our house. Fresh flowers always brighten a room and make it feel homier. It is well worth the $4 and will totally brighten your day whenever you look at them.

The Bloom Workshop- Recap

Last Thursday, my mom and I headed to The Bloom Workshop, in Los Gatos, California. The workshop was a one day event focusing on social media, blogging, styling and photography for creatives seeking ways to improve/or start their own business. 33 other ladies from mostly California also attended the workshop at Regale Winery. It was a lovely event and day hosted by co-founder of Bloom the Workshop, Ashley Slater (Ashley Slater Photography) and Michaela Warner (Michaela Noelle Designs).

The morning started with registration and a social breakfast, which we missed a large portion of driving around on the opposite side of the road in a residential neighborhood, oops! After everyone had arrived and were settled, the morning session focused on best practices for blogging and social media.

After a delicious lunch, Ashley taught about shooting in manual mode on your DSLR camera and Michaela talked about styling photo shoots and interiors. The rest of the afternoon was spent shooting a beautiful styled wedding that Ashley and Michaela had designed around a theme of kumquats. There were gorgeous blooms, a bride and groom (who were actually just newlyweds, awww), dessert table, dinner table and invitation suite. Everyone got a chance to try their hand at styling and trying out their newly acquired photo skills.

The day came to a close with a Question and Answer session with a group of successful photographers, bloggers and designers which included; Simplified Bee, GBO Fashion, Danielle Poff Photography and Delbarr Moradi.

The Bloom Workshop is a great way to think outside of the box and learn new ways about improving your business. What I took away most however, was being surrounded by other woman who were passionate about pursuing what they loved and cheering each other on in the process, something that is invaluable.

There are a couple of mini Bloom workshops coming up on the east Coast but The Bloom Bash, their large two day event, is coming to Seattle in October! Check out their website for more information!

Enjoy the photos below from the workshop!

*I kept wondering the whole time why my photos were coming out blue...turns out I had accidentally clicked a setting that I shouldn't have. I tried to edit a lot of it out but in turn some of the photos have more green/yellow in them than they should. Please ignore :) *

The styled shoot and workshop took place at Regale Winery in Los Gatos, California.

All of the gorgeous blooms were created and provided by Natalie Bowen.

The bride's dress was from Sarah Seven and her hair and makeup was done by Camille Monique.

All of the cute vintage rentals and furniture were provided by Pieces by Violet.

Calligraphy and invitation suite were created and done by Kaitlin Parisho Designs.
